It impacts on everything: going to the loo, getting dressed, bathing - no bath for as long as I have to wear it...loosing mobility is the worse thing, unable to reach for stuff, everything taking ages to do. In hospital I am in bed a lot of the time, but need to keep as active as possible to insure my muscles keep working - and they were already weak, so now doubly difficult! Oh what a mess! My wrist is a compressed fracture which will take about six weeks to heal. They have cast is in some green fiberglass material that looks like something you would get in a garden centre....of course, having very little use of left wrist makes things twice as hard, especially getting the brace on and off.
Blood wise, things look like they might be starting to improve, as haemoglobin is holding and I haven't needed a transfusion for two weeks, which is a great relief. However, don't want to count my chickens just yet, it is so easy for everything to turn in the blink of an eye. If I hadn't stood on the sofa to water a plant, I would be home enjoying sunshine, garden and Luigi...instead I am on RD Lawrence ward, a ground floor outpost of the haematological wards, sharing a room with an old Nigerian lady. She has a large extended family who visit daily. There is no tv, and only an intermittent radio and internet signal...more brick walls to look at, but also a spiral aluminum staircase outside of my window. I imagine it full of pots of red geraniums. Also the windows open a tad soI can hear planes flying overhead, unknown voices, road drills, kitchen clatter and at night I get a coolish breeze. God it has been so hot.
That's enough for now, I am tired. Just had my blood results and my neutrophils have dropped almost to the point of being neutropenic. Just what I need, they have been so good recently...enough enough. I want o bury my head in the sand, but have to keep looking straight ahead. Forwards on this long and winding road..
Ciao to everyone, thanks for messages, lovely to hear from you all and so much needed right now. Back soon. tch xx

Dear very brave girl,
Visualising bright red geraniums for you - but also vivid, vivacious, irrepressible red red bloods...
I've been closeted in darkened rooms in Worcs looking after mother in law after hip op for last hot hot week. Back there tomorrow then WOMAD next w/e. or AmImad camping at my age? Sofa's are totally untrustworthy. Standing on mine to adjust curtains led to a hip replacement 3 months later...
you will grab some of this summer, dear Tess. XxxxxT
What a tough journey you have been on but if anyone can pull through it is you. I dislocated my shoulder hanging a picture frame years ago so know domestic accidents can be serious especially when your neighbors come out to watch you being carted off to hospital. There will be good times ahead for you I am sure Tess. Pop has learnt to swim in the sea and I have ventured in too
Much love

It was conferment ceremony this week – at the RFH. Thursday was so hot that I was soaking by 10am. No better way to spend a Thursday morning than listening to student's names being mispronounced whilst your hands become steadily numb through two hours of clapping. Went out to the Actress in East Dulwich on the Tuesday with Tilly, Kellie and Alix. We sat outside and it was actually nice and cool. I had a pork burger which was actually very nice. Then we all over did it with a massive apple and blackberry crumble and ginger ice cream. Buuuuurrrrppppp!!!!!
Dear dear Tess, It hit 31 degrees here this week prob a record for these parts, when able we've been enjoying it, although poor Rosie of the fair skin has melted regularly. It feels like a different country! No hols for us this year, (Dead Tiger to blame) so it's great to have summer. Wish I could pop and see you but it ain't poss, take care and gentle hugs from the Cote le Donegal xx
I just remembered that about two weeks before my wedding my mother did something similar and put her arm through a window severing an artery! Forgotten all about that. Keep away from precarious sofas.
We're all willing those blood cells of all denominations to get cracking.
Heaps of love from the southern hemisphere.

Hi dear Tess, we are sending you all our love from Hong Kong. Aska, Hana and Kenzo are all doing well. They have just been to see Monsters Inc 2, (3D), so I will expect lots of noise and surprise monster attacks when i finally get home from the office. So sorry about your fall, better times are just round the corner Tess - we all love you so much and look forward to visiting (when i can finally get Aska on a long flight - probably will require rendition-like tactics). I will send you some recent photos of the gang to your email. Lots of love from us all XXXX
Lovely Tessa thinking of you so much! Gutted this happened just when you were able to spend some time at home with Luigi life can be a bitch:( Jimmy is back into pre-season training and friendly games but not long till fixtures start and our Saturdays are gone again.
I will be down soon and hopefully get another visit in.
Stay strong you will get through this!
love and hugs as ever xxx
